AMAKHALA GAME RESERVE
Situated in the Greater Addo and Frontier Country area of the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa is the malaria-free Amakhala Game Reserve - a mere 40 minute drive north-east of Port Elizabeth’s national airport.
Amakhala Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape is easily accessible for any visitor to South Africa, and it is surely a not-to-be-missed stop on South Africa's famous "Garden Route".
The Bush Lodge: Built in the bush, against a backdrop of aloes, the Lodge is a perfect African retreat. Luxurious, secluded tented rooms with private plunge pools, alfresco double showers, offer an unforgettable and exceptional romantic experience. Relax on your private deck and soak up the ambience of the sounds and fragrances of the African bush.
The Safari Lodge: This intimate thatched lodge with its unique air-conditioned safari huts offers all the comforts of a luxury five star lodge and is an undisturbed retreat where you can regenerate your soul and tune into the sounds of nature.
Leeuwenbosch and Shearer’s: The Country House on Leeuwenbosch caters for the whole family. We offer two family suites, baby-sitting services and a children’s programme. Shearer’s Lodge has been converted into four luxury en-suite rooms, three twins and one really special honeymoon suite for that once in a lifetime experience.
Woodbury Lodge: Guests are accommodated in six comfortably appointed stone-and-thatch sleeping lodges, each with air-conditioning and en-suite bathroom. The seclusion of the lodges and the design of the bathrooms and private decks enable our visitors to enjoy the unique and breathtaking views at leisure.
Reed Valley Inn: Nestled in a farmyard, this historic lodge has 4 en-suite country rooms, which once provided rest and safety for the travellers on the mail wagon. Each room has a separate entrance on to a private patio. Sumptuous dinners featuring local Eastern Cape specialities are offered, and enjoy the hearty breakfast before embarking on your morning safari. Children from 12 years of age are welcome.
Carnarvon Dale: This consists of the 1820 Settler farmhouse, the Bottom House, and an elegantly restored early Edwardian cottage, the Top House. On offer is a choice of en-suite serviced bedrooms meeting three stars grading requirements and a family suite is available on request. Morning and afternoon safari game drives in an open Land Rover are arranged to suit your personal needs.
Woodbury Tented Camp: Experience the bush at its best, in comfortable canvas tents overlooking majestic plains where zebra and wildebeest roam. The tranquil surroundings of the camp in the open bushveld allow you to escape from day to day activities and soak up the spectacular views of the game-filled savannah. The tents are comfortably fitted out with en-suite bathrooms.
Quatermain’s Camp: This classic and intimate ‘20s style camp brings back the days of those earlier pioneers and hunters as they camped in the wild bushveld. Set in a secluded valley, Quatermain’s embodies the original spirit of safari, the only concession to modernity being in the rustic bathrooms with modern conveniences. Relax in your safari tent and enjoy dinner under the stars in the central boma area.

Morning and evening game drives by experienced rangers through Amakhala Game Reserve will leave you in awe of the diverse vegetation and spectacular scenery which abounds here. All guided safari game drives are arranged to suit your personal needs. In the evening, the fireside beckons you to share tales of your day’s safari adventure and to enjoy award winning South African wines and local cuisine under a magnificent canopy of stars.

All Rates Include: all meals, house drinks and two game reserve activities per day. (e.g. safari game drives, river cruises, guided walks) Children under 12 years pay 50% of the normal rate where applicable.
