JACI'S LODGES
These two exceptional, privately owned lodges will exceed all your safari expectations.
Situated in the malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve, Jaci’s Lodges boast 75’000 hectares of Big Five territory. One can also expect to see sable, gemsbok, giraffe and springbok, as well as over 340 species of birds. Of particular interest are African wild dogs, a rare endangered species reintroduced into the Madikwe Game Reserve. An approximate 360 km drive from Johannesburg, there is an airstrip in the vicinity for those who prefer to fly in.
Jaci’s Safari Lodge and Jaci’s Tree Lodge invite you to share the African Wilderness in the exclusive luxury of one of the magnificent lodges.
Jaci’s Lodges are situated at an ideal spot, overlooking an established and well-used water hole under a grove of Tamboti trees, on the edge of the Marico River.
The main complex is different, open plan, curved around a huge anthill and under shady trees.
Meals come from an ultra modern kitchen, in full view of the dining area. Dinners are eaten outside under the stars around an open fire in the boma.
Upstairs there is also a quiet reading space, as well as an ethnic craft shop.
Children are particularly welcome at Jaci’s Lodges and are especially catered for. Family Safaris where children aged 5 to 12 join parents on the morning and evening game drives allow the whole family to enjoy nature’s gifts. For children 4 and under, we have a unique ‘Jungle Drive’ that goes out once a day, pointing out things of interest, e.g. toothbrush plants, beetles etc., to that age group. Children will enjoy dinner, with a child-orientated menu with things that kids prefer, in the dining room. And this before parents return from the evening game drive. After all, the evening meal is an adult affair! Children sleeping in the room with their parents are accommodated in camp beds/stretchers set up at the foot of the parent’s bed, adding to the ambience of the safari holiday.
Jaci’s Safari Lodge features only eight large rooms and the exclusive Nare Suite, all built with shaggy thatched roofs, canvas walls and large tented windows, which create a true safari atmosphere. Early risers may catch a glimpse of bush babies returning to roost in the trees around the rooms or enjoy the morning Francolin calls. Lounge at the pool or enjoy bird watching from the bank of the Groot Marico River.
Jaci’s Tree Lodge offers eight tree houses, each encompassing a giant Tamboti or Leadwood Tree. Each luxurious tree house is constructed on forest stilts, up to 6 metres above the ground, incorporating an open plan, en-suite bathroom with an enormous stone bath and outdoor “jungle shower” allowing you to enjoy your forest surroundings.
Relax in the deck in front of your room, in the main lodge, or wander to the forest pool to cool off.
